About this tour

Get the best of both worlds by trekking to the base of the highest mountain in the world and flying over the high Himalayas. The Everest Base Camp Heli Trek is an ideal chance for everyone to appreciate the greatness of the mighty Himalayas spread across the horizon in Khumbu. The dignified Mount Everest (8848m) along with Lhotse (8414m), Nuptse (7861m), Pumori (7161m), and many more provide stunning views throughout the trek while you traverse through the traditional villages of Sherpas. Flying above the picturesque settlements, elevated snow-covered peaks, and glaciers truly can be a proud moment for praising the artwork of nature in Nepal.

The Everest Base Camp Heli Trek has a total of ten days with eight being spent in the lap of great mountains. Those days might feel short as the whole trekking region is compact with such extreme scenic beauty after all. Marking the beginning of the journey from the capital city, the trekking route takes you to the beautiful villages in the mountainous region. Throughout the trek, you will reach the places like Lukla, Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, and Everest Base Camp. The unique Solukhumbu district has respected Sherpas who are considered expert mountain climbers and guides. With the strong influence of Buddhism, many monasteries can be seen along the way. The trek features the ancient Tengboche Monastery which is considered the most sacred by the Sherpas in the Khumbu region. The trails take you through deep forests to the rocky hill to glacial moraines which finally end in Everest Base Camp (5364m). The view of the Khumbu Himalayas seen from the base camp cannot be seen from anywhere else in the world, and the feeling of standing at the base of the mighty Everest (8848m) is enough to make one feel proud of the journey endured. The Heli ride back to Kathmandu flies you above the high Himalayas and allows you to relish the enormity of the mountains.
The day consists of a long trek from Dingboche to Lobuche. Although the pathways are rocky with a few small houses along, the trail offers intensely beautiful scenarios. You first ascend to Dughla on a stony terrain with breathtaking views of the mountains and rocky hills. Then walking on lateral moraines of Khumbu Glacier, you reach Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche.

The Sherpa town has a lot to offer as it is bustling with many shops and eateries filled with travelers from inside and outside Nepal. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

To adjust your body to high altitude (referred to as acclimatization), a day is spent in Namche Bazaar. For pastime, you can check out local cafes and hotels enjoy dining in the Himalayas, talk to friendly Sherpas, visit the Sherpa Museum, and also visit the Tibetan/Chinese weekend market selling clothes and cheap goods. Overnight in Namche.

Today’s destination is Tengboche reached by trekking about 5-6 hours trek from Namche Bazaar. The trail to Tengboche gradually ascends through verdant forests and small settlements. At Phunke Tenga, you will find some water-driven prayer wheels, and from there, you will continue walking uphill until reaching Tengboche. Tengboche is home to an ancient Buddhist monastery with a stunning view of the Khumbu Himalayas.

You have a long trek of 5-6 hours through the villages of Deboche, Pangboche, and Somare to reach Dingboche. The trail as always leaves one breathless with its scenic beauty. Gorakshep is a small village located at an altitude of 5,160 meters and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The trek from Lobuche to EBC takes around 4 to 5 hours and covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers. Upon reaching EBC, you can take a break to explore the area and take in the views of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest. From EBC, it’s a further 2 to 3 hours to reach Gorakshep, which is located at the foot of Kala Patthar, a popular vantage point for views of Mount Everest. Along the way, you will pass through rocky terrain, moraines, and glaciers, and get to experience the stark beauty of the high-altitude environment.

Today is the most important part of our trip. We start early at dawn to catch the dramatic views from Kalapatthar witnessing the first light of day shining on Mt. Everest. Be prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature (-5 to -10 degrees Celsius) departure beforehand. Plus, there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse Tower to the east even as Everest begins to expose itself emerge between the west shoulder crest and Nuptse. After 2-3 hours of ascent, we reach Kalapatthar. From here, we scuttle to climb the rocky outcrop near the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. As we reach the top, we sit on the Kalapatthar rocks and our eyes take in the unbelievable Himalayan views, wandering from one mighty massif to another. We take as many pictures as we possibly can with our camera so they can last a lifetime. Total hike up and down on average will take 3-4 hrs. After this, we make our way back to Gorekshep for breakfast and then board a helicopter flight all the way back to Kathmandu. Once the helicopter lands at the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Treasuring the memories from this trek, it is the day to wave goodbye to the country of Nepal. Accompanied by our representative to the airport, you drive to the international airport to catch your flight back home.
